“Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee, and just as hard to sleep after.” – Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Impatient fingers enwrap the ceremonial vessel: a paper cup.
Inside, a perfect dose of just what the doctor ordered.
Miraculous broth at my lips. Inhale. Hints of cigar box, vanilla;
tug at my senses with the smelling,
curl round about the nostrils, embrace the tongue with
warm caress down quivering throat,
enter my very being.
We are connected, you and I.
How could I have lived without you?
Yesterday, I savoured my first coffee in 6 weeks and it was every sip as fabulous as the anticipation. There is something quite captivating about this roasted bean.
It may not be the healthiest dietary decision, but the taste, sensory and social dimensions of coffee are all aspects I deeply enjoy. I won’t give it up entirely. Not yet anyway.
